About MacCurrach Golf
MacCurrach Golf Construction is defined by heritage—and heart.
Our main mission is to get it done. We have fun on every project, but we don’t mess around. We consider it a privilege to preserve history and shape the future. Our team gets sweaty and dirty and tired, and we love it because we believe hard work is the best work—the most rewarding work. MacCurrach Golf proudly supports the vision of the architect, making sure we’ve got the ‘nuts and bolts’ right so that their design can come to life. We build our team with the best people in the business, and each of us feels lucky to carry on the MacCurrach tradition.

The MacCurrach Way
Allan MacCurrach
Allan MacCurrach
For Allan MacCurrach, golf course construction is more than a job.
It’s a calling; one that’s lasted nearly his entire life. Allan’s father was one of the original PGA TOUR employees in Potomac, Maryland, before moving the family to Jacksonville, Florida, where the TOUR’s new headquarters would be located.
When Allan was 14, he got into a typical teenage squabble with his dad over doing yard work for free, and the argument ended with Allan asking his dad to give him a paid job working on the construction of TPC Sawgrass. The job was to take a bucket and pick up sticks on holes 12, 13, and 14. Allan wasn’t expected to last two weeks.
After two weeks, he went back to the shop and asked what came next. He was given two buckets and told to double his production. That was the summer of 1979. Today, Allan MacCurrach III has more than doubled his production, he’s become one of the most trusted course builders in the game.
After earning a degree in agronomy from the University of Massachusetts, Allan founded MacCurrach Golf Construction in 1987 when he was 22 years old. Every time his dad asked him how it was going, Allan dryly replied, “Working on that third week.” At last count, MacCurrach Golf has built over 36 new courses and restored, renovated or remodeled 340 others. Those projects include working with some of the game’s most prominent designers like Tom Doak, Coore/Crenshaw, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Fazio and many others, both past and present.
And just as the origins of MacCurrach Golf can be traced back to the construction of TPC Sawgrass, another cornerstone of Allan’s life took root that summer – his relationship with Pete and Alice Dye. This lifelong association resulted in 17 projects together, from multiple renovations of TPC Sawgrass to the construction of White Oak Conservation. And perhaps more meaningfully, a collection of several decades of handwritten notes, memories together and thoughts on golf construction.
